Independent Cymbalsmith JD Sagurton - Mahwah, NJ 
As a lifelong drummer, JD Sagurton always struggled to find cymbals with the vibe, feel and sounds that he desired. His first cymbal modification was a very crude hammer job on one of his horrible sounding B8 rides, where he literally used a regular hammer and the sidewalk as his anvil! Of course, the result wasn&rsquo;t great, but it was enough of an improvement to pique his curiosity, and he started to modify any cymbals he could get his hands on.
After a few years tinkering with sketchy, experimental tool setups, (built his first anvil out of an old dumbbell), JD Sagurton finally designed and built a proper cymbal lathe, and furthered his Journey as a self-taught cymbal smith. Soon, his passion for creating unique cymbals led him to seek mentorship from renowned experts in the field. He was&nbsp;fortunate to have had the opportunity to train under the established master cymbal smiths, Nick Margarite (Nicky Moon), and Dave Collingwood.&nbsp;

Inspired by the great Roberto Spizzichino's unrivaled creations, JD Sagurton endeavored to make a ridiculously thin, super complex, breathy and trashy, but still very usable, crash/ride. Though light in weight, surprisingly good stick definition can be produced with the right technique. Aged with custom patina and hand-hammered bell.
